100 members of the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance (EODA) recently gathered for their 36th annual meeting at the Carlisle Inn to celebrate economic development excellence in the region. The EODA is an independent, non-profit organization serving 16 counties in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio to promote economic growth. Governor’s Office of Appalachia (GOA) Director John Carey was the keynote speaker.
Director Carey provided insights regarding economic and community development taking place across the region as the result of Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and GOA funding. Matt Abbott, President and CEO of Ohio Southeast Economic Development, provided members with updates on current economic development projects in the region.
Five EODA Excellence Awards were presented to businesses or organizations. The Manufacturing Excellence Award was presented to Gradall Industries, while the Technology Excellence Award was presented to True North. Tourism Excellence Awards were presented to the U.S.S Shenandoah Crash Hunt for 100 and the Farm at Old World Garden. The Emerging Business Excellence Award was presented to Apex Gaming and Event Center.
