Morgan County

Morgan County - Over the years, the local economy has had several areas of emphasis.  The county has lands that are in agricultural production.  Coal mining, which had been a strong industry on the eastern side of the county, has been significantly reduced.  Several manufacturing firms are located within the county.  Today, MIBA Bearings, U.S., Hann Manufacturing, Draper Corporation, Malta Wood Windows, Dana Corporation, EZ Grout, Inc., and Finley Fire Equipment call Morgan County home.  In addition, several skilled craftsmen are self-employed.

Morgan County has a population estimated to be over 14,600 persons. The County is an important tourism center. The Muskingum River is an attraction for boating and also for fishing. The Burr Oak State Park is located on the west-side of the county on Burr Oak Lake. Wolf Creek is a 3,638-acres wilderness area that has been set aside for public fishing and hunting (primarily with primitive weapons). Morgan County is a place for great turkey and deer hunting.
